Biloxi, Mississippi

Biloxi ist eine Kleinstadt mit ca. 50.000 Einwohnern, östlich von New Orleans auf einer Halbinsel direkt am Golf von Mexiko gelegen. Traurige Bekanntheit
hat der ansonsten recht unscheinbare Ort durch den großen Hurrican Katrina (2005) erlangt. Die komplette Stadt wurde zerstört - regelrecht ausgelöscht. 90% der Gebäude wurden am 29. August 2005 zertrümmert - lange hat es gedauert, bis die Stadt wieder aufgebaut wurde.

Wir besuchten Biloxi zu den jährlich stattfindenden Vicary Auctions, bei denen im Rahmen eines großen Oldtimer-Trffens unter dem Motto
"Cruisin´ the Coast" viele amerikanische Traumautos, vor allem Oldtimer unter den Hammer kommen. Leider fehlte uns das nötige Kleingeld
für die Träume auf vier Rädern....

90% of the buildings were destroyed on August 29, 2005 - it took a long time for the city to be rebuilt.

We visited Biloxi for the annual Vicary Auctions, which are part of a large classic car themed event
"Cruisin' the Coast" many American dream cars, especially classic cars, come under the hammer. Unfortunately we didn't have the necessary change
for dreams on four wheels....
