 It is November 21, 1973. A winter storm is raging on the south coast of Iceland, near Vik iMyrdal. Wind and snow lash over the black beach. A Douglas C-117D "Skytrain" of the US Navy, which flies through this storm, has to make an emergency landing due to freezing carburetors and the resulting failed engines and makes a capital here on the black beach of Solheimasandur Crash landing. All crew members can be rescued, but the wreck - after the Navy later dismantled the still usable parts - simply lies there. Today the wreck is a tourist attraction... |

ist gar nicht so einfach, Bilder ohne Touristen zu machen, denn
permanent tanzen zwar nicht viele aber dafür umso rücksichtslosere Touris neben und leider auf auf dem Rumpf umher... | Es wäre schön, wenn die Touristen dieses Wrack mit dem entsprechenden Respekt behandeln würden, damit es noch vielen anderen Besuchern besucher können. It would be nice if the tourists treated this monument with due respect so that it still remains many other visitors. Sony RX10-III |
