Dabei ist der alte Vulkan gerade im Begriff, wieder im Meer zu versinken - Bora Bora gehört mit seinem Alter von ca. 7 Mio. Jahren (mit Maupiti) zu den ältesten Mitgliedern der Gesellschaftsinseln und ist schon auf halbem Weg ein Atoll zu werden, bei dem der zentrale Vulkan wieder im Meer versunken ist (siehe Rangiroa). Deshalb finden wir hier auch eine bereits sehr stark ausgebildete Lagune mit weitem Riff, was das Eiland erst so schön macht... Der
besondere Reiz und die Schönheit dieser Insel ist kaum in Worte zu
fassen - das Vorzimmer zum Paradies |
 Bora Bora - only the sound of this name makes people shudder and thinking of the beauty of the southern sea. This piece of earth perhaps is one of the most beautiful islands in the world - the prominent mount Otemanu raises 727 meters out of the turquoise coloured lagoon which is surrounded by the deep blue southern sea. Actually the old volcano is on the way to sink into the sea - Bora Bora is with it´s age of app. 7 million years (with Maupiti) one of the oldest members of the society islands and half way to become an atoll where the central montain is sunken in the sea (see Rangiroa). That´s why we can find here a very distinct lagoon with wide reef which makes the island that beautiful... The special charm and beauty of this island is hardly expressed in words - the antechamber of paradise must look that way too :-) |
