 Uyuni (population app. 20,000) lies in the Altiplano highlands of Bolivia at 3.675m. Originally founded in 1889 as a military town, the town exudes only little charm due to much wind an its average annual temperature of just 9° C. For many tourists, Uyuni is the starting point for further visits to the surrounding area - in addition to the largest salt lake in the world, there is also an impressive train cemetery, very close to the city |

ein Grenzübertritt von Chile nach Bolivien per Mietwagen nicht möglich
ist, haben wir uns für eine 3-tägigen Abstecher per Bus entschieden. Eine abenteuerliche jeweils 11-stündige Busfahrt hin und retour hauptsächlich über Schotterpisten hat uns vom Mietwagen verwöhnten Touris ganz schön geschlaucht :-) Since a border crossing from Chile to Bolivia by rental car is not possible, we opted for a 3-day detour by bus. An adventurous 11-hour bus ride back and forth mainly on gravel roads took us, from the rental car pampered tourists, quite well :-) Sony RX10-III |
