 Just south of Uyuni lies the Cementerio de Trens - the cementery of the trains. In the 1940s, after the collapse of local industry (precious metal mines of the area were closed down) many locomotives and wagons were no longer needed and abandoned the decay. Here you will find about 100, locomotives and wagons drawn of corrosion, metal thieves and graffiti. Due to the nearby Salar de Uyuni, the railway cemetery has become a popular destination for tourists. |
